What is Motivational Interviewing?

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, client-centered approach to communication that enhances motivation for change. It’s a solution-focused method rooted in empathy, respect, and a deep understanding of the your experience. MI empowers you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and values, helping you build the motivation to make lasting changes.

By focusing on strengths and building self-efficacy, MI enables you to see your potential and commit to your own growth. MI is particularly effective in addressing ambivalence—when you is unsure about making a change—and helps you move toward action at your own pace, without pressure or coercion.
